Of course not
The coalition has shown that the voters of the UK couldn’t decide on a government under FPTP, and given us the opportunity to change our voting system to a fairer one.
As much as Nick Clegg might be flattered by the idea that this choice is about him personally, it’s really a question that crosses all party lines. Instead of focusing on any particular personality, we should really focus on answering the question:
Is the Alternative Vote a better system of elections for the UK than First Past The Post?
And that “fairer” is about fairness for us, the voters, rather than any politicians who’d prefer a job for life, and continuing to get elected with minority support.
